Harry and Meghan's Most Expensive Private Habit Has a $7.3 Million Price Tag
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have often faced backlash from critics over their exclusive travel choices.
Even after stepping away from their official royal duties in 2020 and maintaining their distance from the family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have continued to enjoy a high-profile and luxurious lifestyle in California. They currently live in a massive Montecito mansion with celebrity neighbors and rely on heightened private security to maintain the safety standards. Not just that, the couple also has an elite social circle that has remained a frequent topic of discussion among royal fans. It has now been revealed that there’s one luxury travel expense on which Harry and Markle splurge a lot more than on other things.
As reported by HELLO Magazine, the royal couple uses an exclusive mode of travel, reportedly choosing a luxury 12-seat Cessna aircraft for added privacy. The lavish jet can reach speeds of up to 592mph and has several other notable features. It is equipped with adjustable LED lighting, onboard Wi-Fi facility, and workspace desks that allow them to work on various business matters even while they are traveling. Along with this, it also features spacious bathrooms, said to be large enough for quick outfit changes during long journeys.
Additionally, the Cessna jet comes with some specially designed mechanics aimed at delivering a smooth and secure flying experience. It is reportedly equipped with advanced carbon brakes, fuel-efficient performance, and a sophisticated navigation system. At present, the private jet comes with a hefty price tag of about $7.39 million, and that figure does not include the additional cost of hiring a pilot. However, it remains unclear whether Harry and Markle own the aircraft or just rent it out for their transatlantic travels.
It was previously revealed that the Sussexes opted to fly in a private jet during their visit to the UK for Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. It was the first long travel of their kids, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Later on, people were also offered a rare inside glimpse of the jet in their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan. The footage showed the aircraft with enough space for the family’s dogs to move around comfortably and relax in their own pet beds. The couple and Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, were also seen sitting comfortably in private booths.
Meanwhile, Harry and Markle have often faced backlash over their travel choices, particularly due to their public advocacy on climate change. Their use of private jets has frequently been viewed as conflicting, with critics arguing that such luxury trips undermine their support for ‘green’ initiatives. It’s worth noting that the Duke of Sussex has been one of the key figures behind Travalyst, which promotes sustainable tourism. He founded the initiative in 2019, and the official Travalyst website clearly states, "The goal is to bring credible, consistent sustainability information to the mainstream, helping both travelers and travel companies make better, greener choices," as reported by The Mirror.
