Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were all smiles as they walked hand-in-hand into Dodger Stadium on October 28 to cheer on their home team. What began as a low-key 'date night' for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quickly unraveled once they settled into their front-row seats. While it remains unclear whether they paid for their tickets or were invited as VIPs, the crowd appeared divided over their presence. When the kiss cam panned toward Harry and Markle, they were met with a mix of cheers and boos from the 60,000-strong crowd, forcing an awkward smile from the couple.

Harry and Markle sported matching blue Dodgers caps as they watched the 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays. But it's not their outfits that caught the attention of the crowd, but rather their seating. The pair was seated ahead of baseball legend Sandy Koufax and just in front of NBA icon Magic Johnson. This seemingly sparked frustration among the crowd, who viewed their apparent 'royal treatment' as unfair. Their seats, positioned directly behind the pitch clock, are said to cost tens of thousands of dollars.

After footage of the awkward moment went viral on X (formerly Twitter), royal fans couldn't help but say the same thing. A critic commented, "Booed wearing Dodgers hats at Dodgers stadium. Ouch." In a similar vein, another said of their seating arrangement, "A lot of people were pissed that they were sitting in front of Sandy Koufax. Consensus is he takes a back seat to no one at Dodger Stadium and he’s the real royalty, not them." A comment also read, "Real royalty, Sandy Koufax sat with Magic Johnson and wives behind the poseurs, Harry and Megan. That’s not right."

But unbeknownst to many, Markle does, in fact, have a family connection to one of the players (somewhat). Markle and Mookie Betts, star of the Los Angeles Dodgers, are distant relatives. According to PEOPLE, genealogical research shows that Markle's great-great-aunt and Bett’s great-great-uncle married, and their ancestors lived side by side in Alabama in the 19th century. While the Sussexes may not be aware of their personal connection, it added a new layer of intrigue to their appearance.

At Dodger Stadium, Harry and Markle were joined by a star-studded crowd, which included Kim Kardashian, Leonardo DiCaprio, Sydney Sweeney, Christy Martin, James Marsden, and Austin Butler. Seated in the exclusive front-row section, the couple was seen exchanging smiles with Kardashian during breaks. Footage from the game also showed the Sussexes fist-bumping Johnson, who was relegated to the second row. Markle looked chic in a crisp white button-up and dark trousers, while Harry looked dapper in a white T-shirt and blazer.
