Marie Claire announced that in a recent turn of events, Duchess Sophie has been named the new patron of the Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST). The charity supports wounded, injured, and sick military personnel and veterans through adaptive snow sports, and we all know Harry is closely attached to this domain. The Duchess of Edinburgh marked the announcement by heading to The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead, joining members of the team on the indoor slopes.
For the day, the Duchess looked in a jovial mood as she dressed in a bright blue ski outfit, skied alongside AFPST participants, and interacted with the military personnel and veterans, learning more about the organization. AFPST aims to help give participants “a renewed sense of purpose and independence as they work towards individual and shared goals," an objective that is similar to Harry’s Invictus Games. The charity uses activities including alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, and snowboarding to help military personnel and veterans with their physical and emotional recovery.
It also aims to help participants regain confidence, independence, and a sense of purpose while fostering a strong sense of community. This is where Prince Harry comes into the picture. The Duke of Sussex has spent years championing the power of sport to help wounded, injured, and sick service personnel and veterans. His Invictus Games have become closely associated with this mission, giving competitors around the world the chance to take part in adaptive sports while celebrating their strength and determination.
