London’s runway is about to welcome some familiar faces, and one of them hails from the highest reaches of British aristocracy. Lady Amelia Windsor, a great-great-granddaughter of King George V and often celebrated for her refined style, is preparing for a high-profile appearance at London Fashion Week. Amelia Windsor, once dubbed by Vogue as “the most beautiful member of the royal family”, will stride out in Turkish label Barrus’ latest collection, joining model Lady Victoria Hervey and Juliet Mayhew from the Real Housewives of London.

Barrus is clearly delighted to add this star power to its catwalk. “Having Amelia, Victoria, and Juliet with us adds a real-world expression of that, and we celebrate these strong, stylish women with depth,” the brand shared in anticipation, as per Hello! For Lady Amelia, fashion is her passion, and it’s become a way of engaging with the world. “I'm so excited to be part of the Barrus show, and to be stepping out in their stunning designs,” she said. “As a lover of all things travel, bringing the culture of Istanbul to London rings true, and I can't wait for people to see and experience the spirit of Barrus with its 7 Hills, 7 Heals collection.”

This isn’t her first storm through the glittering halls of the fashion world. Her profile boasts runways for world-renowned designers like Dolce & Gabbana and modelling experience with the likes of Bulgari and Azzedine Alaïa; she’s earned her place in couture’s inner circle, all while completing her studies in French and Italian at the University of Edinburgh.

Her fashion journey keeps evolving; last year saw her grace Zeynep Kartal x Li & Fung’s ‘Noblesse Oblige’ Spring/Summer 2023 runway, and she’s a regular at haute couture shows. Yet Amelia’s interests run deeper than the latest trends and glimmering gowns. Off the runway, her heart belongs to sustainable fashion, as per InStyle. She is also passionate about the influence personal choices can have. “It’s such an exciting space that's constantly evolving, and I love to find brands and companies that are truly paving the way forward,” she explained to Hello! “Living more sustainably has been a gradual process of learning and discovering.”

As a sustainability activist, she also said. “The eco-friendly world is a space where people share knowledge and accept that you can’t be perfect, but the small changes you make can have a positive impact on you personally, as well as on the planet,” she shared with readers.

Royals stepping into fashion is not exactly a new phenomenon, and Lady Amelia Windsor isn’t the first to blur the lines between aristocracy and high fashion. Over the years, several members of the extended royal family have graced the runway, often making headlines as much for their style as for the causes they supported.

Sarah Ferguson stunned in a black floor-length gown at the Fashion For Relief show in London in 2015 alongside Naomi Campbell and Katie Price to raise money for Ebola victims, and she had even earlier walked with Princess Beatrice at the Fashion Relief Show during London Fashion Week in 2007. Princess Diana’s niece, Lady Kitty Spencer, has also made her mark, looking cocktail-party ready on the Dolce & Gabbana runway in 2017, a moment that led to her becoming the face of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2018 campaign.
