Tom Cruise Praises Prince William for Making a "Smart Choice" by Marrying Kate Middleton

Prince William and Kate Middleton stunned on the red carpet while attending the Digger World Premiere & Royal Film Performance last week. This marked the royal couple's second major appearance with Tom Cruise, following the U.K. premiere of Top Gun: Maverick. During the previous event, Cruise famously broke royal protocol by holding the Princess of Wales' hand while escorting her to the screening.
Later in an exclusive with Entertainment Tonight, Cruise highlighted the significance of reuniting with the future king and queen, describing them as lovely and caring individuals. He expressed deep respect for them and appreciated their presence, referring to it as a "royal reunion" after their meeting in 2022. Now, in a recent interview, the Mission: Impossible star has gone a step further, praising William for making a 'smart choice' when it comes to marrying Middleton.
While discussing his London premiere, Cruise mentioned to ExtraTV that he had shared private conversations with the Wales couple. "Well, we have private conversations. We talk about things that are between us, but it was just so fun sitting there watching, you know, watching them watch it and for them to be part of it. I have so much respect for them," he said.
He added that the Prince and Princess of Wales are dedicated individuals who contribute significantly to their country and the world, noting their grace and sense of humor. Cruise also couldn't stop gushing about Middleton: "She's got great sense, incredible sense of humor. I mean, obviously very intelligent and fun. And her dress, of course; both of them, they look so charismatic and so elegant. That dress that she was wearing was stunning, absolutely stunning. I know."
Cruise further commended William's decision to marry Kate, suggesting it was an exceptionally smart choice. "No, you, William did well. Yeah he did. Well, way to go. Smart choice. Yeah, I got to give it to William. Way to go. Smart choice," he said admiringly. He concluded by noting that the royal couple shared their thoughts about the movie after the premiere, admitting they couldn't stop thinking about it.
For the event, Middleton showcased effortless royalty by wearing a custom purple, long-sleeved Jenny Packham gown featuring sheer, voluminous sleeves. She styled her hair elegantly in a half-up arrangement, complemented by the late Princess Diana’s Collingwood pearl drop earrings and the rarely seen Queen Mother’s Amethyst Sautoir Necklace, a striking statement piece.
