Meghan Markle renamed her lifestyle brand from American Riviera Orchard to As Ever in February. The Duchess of Sussex announced the revamp on Instagram, which also featured her new logo. The updated brand logo bore several symbolic elements, each holding special meaning in her and Prince Harry’s lives. One of the symbols also serves as a touching tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth.
As Ever’s new logo features a palm tree flanked by two hummingbirds. Marie Claire reports that hummingbirds are Harry's favorite birds. After Queen Elizabeth died and the Sussexes returned home, a hummingbird had made its way into their house, which prompted Harry to write about how he thought it could be a sign. He penned in his memoir, Spare, “I had a devil of a time guiding it out, and the thought occurred that maybe we should start shutting the doors, despite those heavenly ocean breezes.” He added, “Then a mate said: Could be a sign, you know? …Visitors, as it were. Aztecs thought of them as reincarnated warriors. Spanish explorers called them 'resurrection birds.'”
Harry’s love for hummingbirds was also showcased in the couple's Netflix series, Harry & Meghan. In one particular scene, he is seen explaining to Prince Archie that the hummingbirds were “scared of humans.” The Duke exclaimed, “These guys, look at them.” As for the Queen, the Duke was said to be ‘in the dark’ when she was on her deathbed. As per reports, he was not informed about her demise when his plane took off at 5:35 PM, which was more than two hours after she had passed at 3:10 PM. A family friend spilled, “His team literally had to beg for them to wait for his plane to land, and they reluctantly agreed to hold the statement back for a little bit.”
Coming back to Markle’s brand, the palm trees in her revamped logo, meanwhile, represent their deep bond. In an interview with The Cut, the Duchess revealed that two palm trees in their Montecito mansion helped Harry seal the deal on their home. She said, “One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees. See how they’re connected at the bottom? He goes, 'My love, it’s us.'” She added, “And now, every day when Archie goes by us, he says, ‘Hi, Momma. Hi, Papa.'" The interview also saw Markle reveal that she did 'everything’ to secure her current Montecito home, as it reportedly made her 'feel free' and was 'calm and healing.'
The same palm trees from their $20 million mansion also featured in a promotional shoot for As Ever's website. In the image, Markle and Princess Lilibet are seen running barefoot through their backyard, with the two towering palm trees in the background. Most recently, Markle’s Mother’s Day post also showed her two children climbing onto her, with the palm trees in view.
