Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently celebrated their seventh wedding anniversary on Monday, May 19. Markle marked the special occasion with a heartfelt post on Instagram, which featured photographs of some of her most cherished moments with Harry. Reflecting on the same, a royal insider has claimed that the Duke of Sussex, however, wouldn't be too pleased with his wife's post.
Markle's mood board bore many pictures of her journey with Harry, from their first meeting to their life today with their kids. Among the standout memories was a never-before-seen Christmas photo of young Prince Archie kissing his sister Princess Lilibet on the forehead, in front of a festive Christmas tree, as reported by People magazine. The Duchess captioned the post, “Seven years of marriage. A lifetime of stories. Thanks to all of you (whether by our side or from afar) who have loved and supported us throughout our love story. We appreciate you. Happy anniversary!”
Although royal fans were thrilled with the rare glimpse of the Sussex children, sources claim Harry might not be so 'happy' as he fears for the safety of his family. A royal source questioned, “If they [Archie and Lilibet] weren’t [on the photo board], would anyone be interested?” As reported by Page Six, another palace insider said, “Harry is all about protecting his kids, so I can’t imagine he will be happy with this.” They added, “Harry and Meghan have gone to great lengths to protect the kids; they rarely take them out in public places, and it’s just a bit odd that photos are starting to come out now, when they are more recognizable.”
The mood board follows the immense backlash Markle has faced in recent months over using her Instagram handle to promote her many business ventures, while clicking Archie and Lilibet from behind, never showing their faces. Royal watchers have also noted how Harry had only recently shared his disappointment during his BBC interview over not being able to bring his children to the UK over security reasons. He said, “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point.” Markle going back and forth when it comes to her children's privacy has hence fueled further criticism.
Coming back to Markle's anniversary post, other milestone photos include a cozy 2018 getaway to Norfolk, an ultrasound scan, and Markle’s baby bump. It also included snaps of Harry gently holding his newborn son after his birth in 2019, and Markle with baby Lilibet from 2021. For the year 2022, the frames show paint-covered hands and the family engaging in a craft session together. Snapshots from 2023 reveal a snowy getaway and the family on a beach.
