Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are allegedly going forward with their 'professional split', following a series of collaborative projects since relocating to the US. After signing a $100 million Netflix deal for at least five projects, the royal couple will now be focusing on individual business ventures, employing separate chiefs of staff. Markle’s new lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, featured her sharing life advice to her celebrity friends while cooking with them on the sets. Reflecting on the same, a royal expert has argued that the Duchess of Sussex has no business acumen, rather simply experimenting and trying to sell a hobby since she is 'hot' and 'rich'.
The hobby in question is Markle's lifestyle brand, As Ever, that sells $ 30 honey and $15 jam. Royal broadcaster Esther Krakue, speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive show, asserted that Markle has no clue about what she is doing. She said, “They did really well because they sold out. How many units did you actually sell? She could have sold 50 jars, and if it sold out, it sold out." The expert added, “She doesn't really know what she is doing, which is fine because you can hire people who do... But to go from selling jam and shortbread and all of that, which has reportedly sold out, to not restocking and then kind of having this haphazard view of what you're going to do next and potentially go into fashion, she doesn't know what she is doing.”
Krakue further slammed, “It is just a hobby. But that's fine because she is rich and hot.” The expert also opined that Markle does not have many business options. She explained, “There's not a single person who looks to Meghan Markle as some sort of business or commercial genius or even competent. She doesn't need to be.”
Krakue's comments follow Markle having recently shared in an interview with Fast Company that she will begin restocking her As Ever products only next year. She explained that she is planning to take “a step back, gather data from the launch, and figure out exactly what As Ever could be.” The former actress is currently focusing on the ‘hospitality angle’ of her brand, according to the customer’s seasonal needs. When asked if she wishes to enter the clothing industry of her interest, she replied, “The category of fashion is something I will explore at a later date because I do think that’s an interesting space for me.” This follows the Duchess's recent launch of her 'ShopMy' page that features “a hand-picked and curated collection of the things” she loves.
