Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie have largely stepped back from public appearances and royal engagements following the association of their parents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, with the Epstein scandal. A royal expert has highlighted that the York sisters have since adopted vastly different lifestyles that deeply influenced their personal lives. Eugenie has settled in Portugal with her husband and children, whereas Beatrice has remained in the UK, maintaining a resilient public presence, such as stepping in for her mother at Paddy McNally's funeral.

According to the Daily Mail, Eugenie has maintained distance from her parents, especially her father, the former Duke of York. However, Beatrice remains more closely attached, offering quiet support following the Epstein scandal. Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliam noted that Princess Eugenie's absence from the UK has positively shifted public perception of her, making her seem 'freer' and more optimistic compared to her sister.

"Beatrice and Eugenie have had an extremely tough period whilst their parents are publicly disgraced. Yet there has been a change in the perception of Eugenie," he explained. "A happy event, the birth of Adelaide, and the delightful photographs Eugenie has shared with us remind us all of the very human predicament of those in the public eye with parents who have disgraced themselves," he added. In August, Eugenie welcomed her baby daughter, Adelaide Elizabeth Brooksbank. The couple's choice to have her in Portugal underscores their deep ties to the country. Fitzwilliam believes the birthplace is significant, given its historical links to Britain, and suggested it may help distance the family from the Yorks' recent controversies.

"Eugenie is reportedly keeping a distance from her errant father; ignoring him at least publicly on Father's Day is one example," the royal expert noted. He further highlighted that Beatrice maintains a visible distance from her father but remains the closest to him. He further added that Beatrice was initially not recognized for her crucial role in advising her father during the disastrous Newsnight interview, a fact that has since become widely known after being dramatized. Recent reports suggest that Ferguson may assist Eugenie with childcare amid the release of three million pages of Epstein-related documents by the US Department of Justice.

According to the royal expert, this situation has created significant stress for Eugenie and her husband, though his luxury brand remains unaffected due to his strict boundaries with his in-laws. Eugenie, once close to the Sussexes, reportedly no longer maintains contact with them, reflecting a supportive stance from the royal family during this tumultuous time. Andrew's connection to Epstein has led to ongoing legal troubles, including his recent arrest, while Sarah's questionable past interactions with Epstein have also come to light, further complicating the family's situation. However, Fitzwilliam concluded by lauding the Brooksbanks' bond: "Their marriage is strong." Meanwhile, Beatrice's marriage to Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi is reportedly facing difficulties.
