Initially, when Sarah Ferguson married into the British royal family, she won praise from both the public and palace insiders due to her lively personality. However, over the years, she began to shape mixed—and often critical—opinions about herself within the royal family. This shift mainly happened after her alleged involvement in a series of high-profile controversies came to light. Now, a royal author has revealed how Queen Elizabeth II had some serious concerns for her daughter-in-law, Sarah.

In his new biography titled Elizabeth II: In Private, In Public: The Inside Story, royal author Robert Hardman claims that the late Queen always worried about her ‘favorite child’, former Prince Andrew, and his ex-wife. These concerns stayed intact even after their divorce in 1996, as reported by the Daily Express. Robert stated, "One former Cabinet minister remembered that, through this period, the Queen was touchingly concerned for her ex-daughter-in-law, who had continued to live - on and off - with the Duke ever since their divorce."

He even quoted the former Cabinet Minister, who had said, “She [the late Queen] was obviously fond of Andrew, but strangely fond of Fergie. She said: 'Oh, I just worry that they don't have any money'. It was rather sweet." It is worth noting that the former Duchess of York has often been associated with a lavish lifestyle and generous spending habits. For instance, media reports once highlighted Sarah's taste for luxuries like regular ski getaways, maintaining ponies, and even shopping sprees. She allegedly spent £25,000 (about $34,000) in just an hour at Bloomingdale’s.

Similarly, just a few months ago, journalist Hilary Rose revealed that the former Duchess once spent £20,000 (about $27,000) to rent a villa in the south of France back in 1994. She added, "More recently, she developed a taste for the expensive rosé Whispering Angel.” Meanwhile, ever since the details about Sarah’s past links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein have been made public, it has triggered a major fallout, with her and Andrew losing all access to their former residence, Royal Lodge, along with their official titles and other privileges. Not just this, her current whereabouts also remain unclear.

Although some reports have claimed that she is still in the UK or the UAE, others believe that she has been moving across the US, even 'couch-surfing' at times. However, a source has claimed, “Sarah has made it clear to those around her she will never set foot in America again. She is deeply worried about the reaction she would face, whether from Epstein’s victims or scrutiny from Congress,” as reported by She Knows. The person added, “It has not been a difficult decision despite how deeply entrenched in America she once was.”
