Princess Kate Looks Stunning as the Royals Welcome Nigerian President in Historic State Visit
Kate took 'diplomatic dressing' a notch higher while welcoming the Nigerian President, and his wife for their state visit to the UK.
The royal corridors were buzzing with anticipation over welcoming the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, for their state visit to the UK. Prince William and his wife, Princess Kate, were among the first to extend a warm welcome, greeting the couple on Wednesday, March 18, at the luxury spa hotel, Fairmont Windsor Park. The visit is particularly crucial, as it marks the first time in 37 years that the West African nation's leader is visiting Britain and the first in almost a century of a Muslim leader during the holy month of Ramadan.
The Prince and the Princess of Wales have been bestowed with the duty of welcoming the Nigerian President and his wife, as they similarly did during United States President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump's visit in September 2025. Gracing their duties, William and Kate greeted their guests and later took them for a ride to Windsor, when King Charles and Queen Camilla received them with the national anthem playing. The UK forces also fired the Royal Salute for the couple in the Home Park in Windsor and at the Tower of London.
For the day, Kate was dressed to impress in a special nod to the Nigerian culture. The Princess opted for a gray and white coat dress from the shelves of an ace British-Nigerian designer, Tolu Coker. The outfit featured a corset-style bodice to add definition to the waist with white piping along the peaked lapels, with matching button detailing in the same hue. The coat dress had a vintage feel, and the Princess gracefully carried it with a gray and white beret hat.
For the final touches, Kate carried a black clutch purse and donned satellites in the matching shade of dove-gray. The Princess of Wales had her signature makeup look with a soft glam base with pink flushed lips. She accessorized her look with dangly earrings, leaving her tresses loose in soft curls. PEOPLE also reported that Charles first saw Coker's collection during his visit to the London Fashion Week.
William, on the other hand, perfectly complemented his wife in a formal dark navy blazer paired with a light blue shirt dress. He completed his OOTD with a matching blue tie and light gray trousers. The visit by the President and his wife to the UK will be concluded on Thursday evening, at the beginning of the Islamic celebration of Eid al-Fitr. Sharing their expectation from the UK visit, Nigeria's Government spokesman, Mohammed Idris, shared, "This visit marks the next step in deepening co-operation across trade, finance and defense."
