Princess Charlotte Brings Back Prince William’s Iconic '90s Look in New Family Photos
An unexpected detail in Princess Charlotte's latest outfit has royal fans looking back at Prince William's younger years.
Princess Charlotte has always been said to resemble her mother, Princess Kate, especially when it comes to her outfits. But this time, her casual look had everyone comparing her to Prince William's signature '90s wardrobe. The eleven-year-old seemed to take style inspiration from her father in recent family pictures, as noted by the Daily Mail, after Kate completed the National Three Peaks Challenge.
In new Instagram photos, Charlotte was seen cheering Kate on and giving her a big hug at the finish line in Snowdon. Prince George, Prince Louis, James Middleton, and Kate's parents were also there to celebrate the milestone. However, it was Charlotte’s outfit that got the most attention as fans could not see past the uncanny similarity to William.
Charlotte wore a navy J.Crew 'Teddie' crew-neck jumper with flared blue Ralph Lauren jeans and blue Adidas Gazelle trainers. It was a look that instantly brought back memories of The Prince of Wales’ favorite casual outfits from his younger years. The resemblance did not go unnoticed. One royal fan shared a side-by-side photo of Charlotte and William on X and wrote, "Omg I just realised who Charlotte's style icon is."
Another user called Charlotte a "mini William," pointing out how much her outfit looked like the casual denim-and-navy-jumper combinations William often wore in the '90s. Others also noticed how much she has grown as the young royal appeared almost shoulder-to-shoulder with Kate in several of the photos.
After taking on the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge, Kate shared the family photos on Instagram and wrote, "This time last week, completing the National Three Peaks Challenge. A huge thank you to everybody who has supported The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity." One photo showed Kate giving her daughter a warm hug and snuggling close beside her. In another, the young royal reached for her mother's hand while Louis played with one of James Middleton's dogs in the background.
Just recently, Kensington Palace shared a sweet photo of William and Charlotte to mark Father's Day, which fell on the same day as William's birthday. The picture was taken after the family attended Trooping the Colour 2026 and showed the father-daughter duo with their arms around each other in the gardens of Kensington Palace. The post was signed by Kate, George, Charlotte, and Louis, but it was Charlotte who shared the special moment with William in the photo.
Their close bond goes beyond sweet family moments and matching outfits. William has also played a key role in shaping Charlotte's place in royal history. Royal author Russell Myers (via Woman & Home) previously revealed that William had raised concerns with Queen Elizabeth before marrying Kate about the rules of royal succession. At the time, a younger son could still move ahead of an older daughter in the line of succession. The law was later changed, meaning Charlotte now keeps her place ahead of Louis regardless of birth order and gender.
