Boughs of Holly and Tiny Crowns: Prince William and Kate Middleton's Festive Fairytale Christmas Plans With Wales Kids Revealed
Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, both 42, are set to provide their kids, Prince George,11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, a "merry and bright" Christmas season. A well-placed royal source also revealed the Wales family will join King Charles III, 76, and Queen Camilla, 77, at Sandringham for the traditional royal gathering.
This led former royal butler Grant Harrold to share, "They’ll probably go on Christmas Eve, but if they’re already at Amber Hall, they’ll probably be up there before, especially with Kate not doing quite as much at the moment."
"Last Christmas she was probably aware that something wasn’t quite right, so I imagine it was quite a tough Christmas," Harrold added. "It will be like any other Christmas, focused on the young family. They’re very family-orientated, like the late queen, so that will be their focus."
On December 6, William's future queen consort, who completed chemotherapy for an unknown type of cancer in September, will attend her fourth annual Together at Christmas concert in Westminster Abbey.
This led royal historian Hugo Vickers to share, "I thought if there's anything that she's going to do between now and the end of the year, it would be the carol service because it's enormously popular."
"It's become one of the nicest features of the Christmas season," he added. "They've been hugely successful, the last ones that she did. It's her way of saying thank you and highlighting the needs of people in communities who've helped each other. I'm sure of all the things that she could have done that was going to be a high priority."
It is unknown if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will join the royals for Christmas or even if they have been invited. However, since the pair have not attended since 2018, hopes remain low this will happen again.
"I think Harry and Meghan themselves will possibly reach out," he further observed. "The thing about Christmas, it is about goodwill to others, letting bygones be bygones, forgetting the past, moving into the new year. So if there’s any point in the year that the families are going to communicate or touch base, it’s going to be over Christmas — there’s something magical about Christmas that gets families back together."
Furthermore, the future queen has allegedly "always had a soft spot" for her rebel brother-in-law, and new reports claim HRH is "working hard" to reunite Harry with William. The princess is also reportedly "hoping" the Duke's "professional split" from Meghan could bring him to Britain for Christmas.
All eyes are on Catherine this year as she celebrates her first Christmas since beating cancer.
