Prince Harry’s Quiet Contact With King Charles Revealed After Bombshell Letter

While the Sussexes have been keeping a low profile, a letter on behalf of the King has made it clear that Harry and Markle are in no way rejoining the royal family as working royals.

Prince Harry’s return to the UK has renewed the debate about where he stands with the Royal Family. After spending six years living in California with Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the Duke of Sussex is now back on home soil and much closer to his father, King Charles. While the Sussexes have been keeping a low profile, a letter on behalf of the King has made it clear that Harry and Markle are in no way rejoining the royal family as working royals. As per reports, the couple was taken aback by the sudden announcement, and while many concluded that Harry has not been in touch with the King, new reports claim otherwise.

Harry has not met any member of the royal family since his return, including his father, but as HELLO! reports, he has been in touch with the King through calls. Australian royal reporter Bronte Coy also told The Morning Show that her sources confirmed contact between Harry and his father. She shared, "I can tell you, actually, just from this morning, I've heard. They haven't met face to face yet. But my understanding is that they have spoken on the phone." While there is a lot of chatter about Harry's impending reunion with his family, the same reports suggest the Prince's priorities lie elsewhere.

For now, Harry and Markle appear to be concentrating on making the move as easy as possible for Archie and Lilibet. "The major thing has been getting the kids into school," Coy said. She continued, "That's been a major focus. I think they've been laying pretty low while they figure all that out." The family is settling into their new private home in Britain while keeping their Montecito property. While King's letter has surely ruffled things, Harry and Markle are in no hurry to make an official statement and are expected to take a "softer approach" as they settle into their new life in Britain.

For the unversed, the King, through his letter to Lord Benyon GCVO, a Lord Chamberlain and the most senior officer of the Royal Household, has revealed, "Following the decision by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to relocate to the UK, we have received a number of requests for Guidance. To help avoid doubt or confusion, the King has directed that the following information be shared."

The letter continued, "It is well known that in January 2020 the Duke and Duchess stepped down from undertaking representative duties on behalf of The Sovereign, and are no longer working Members of The Royal Family. This position, distinct from the State and Royal duties undertaken by the working Royal Family, and with the personal latitude it brings the couple in respect of financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish, will continue to be fully respected."
