Mr. and Mrs. Windsor? King Charles 'Does Not Want to Humiliate' Meghan Markle and Prince Harry by Removing Their Royal Titles

King Charles doesn't want to strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle of their royal titles because he 'doesn't want to humiliate them.'

King Charles III may not want to strip Meghan Markle and his son, Prince Harry, of their royal styles to spare them massive embarrassment. An insider close to the monarch says that he is "not a punitive man" and "does not want to humiliate" his youngest son and daughter-in-law in what would become a massive media story.

Fresh calls to remove the Sussex family from their royal titles are underway thanks to the controversy unleashed by the Dutch edition "translation error" of Omid Scobie's Endgame. That version went to print with King Charles III and Kate, Princess of Wales, named as not one but two "royal racists" who allegedly questioned Prince Archie's skin color in 2019.

Meghan Markle told Oprah Winfrey in March 2021 that only one senior royal asked her what color her baby's complexion would be upon birth. Unlike the numerous scandals that have erupted since "Megxit" in 2020, it is reported that the British monarchy is "considering all options" when it comes to taking legal actions against any and everyone involved with the book.

However, even something as severe as this is not likely to move the needle when it comes to making the Montecito twosome regular old Mr. and Mrs. Henry Windsor.

As the monarch of Britain, King Charles III can remove Harry and Meghan's HRH styles by simply issuing a Letters Patent making it so. He could also remove Harry's "prince" style, which also extends to Meghan as "Princess Henry" by virtue of marriage. It would take the U.K. parliament passing acts of legislation to remove the "Duke/Duchess of Sussex" titles and/or to strike Harry and his two children from the line of succession to the throne.

"That is just something that would not be considered," a palace insider told a publication.

The late Queen Elizabeth II let it be known that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could not use their HRH styles "for commercial reasons," but she never stripped the styles as many think. Multiple palace sources have spoken out on the King's determination not to touch their titles.

"I was at Royal Ascot the other day, and I met a source who is quite close to the royal family. I said, 'Well, what about all this stuff about stripping titles?'" royal expert Robert Jobson told an outlet in August. "If you're going to have a President Meghan, then surely they're not going to want to have their royal titles, and they will be kicked out of the line [of] succession?' I asked, 'To which the palace insider replied that the King is not prepared to touch the Montecito duo's styles or titles?'"
