Harry Wants Meghan to ‘Slow Down’ — Insider Says He Fears She’s ‘Losing Sight' of What Really Matters

The source said of Meghan Markle's tireless work, "Meghan’s up until all hours, taking meetings, working every angle she can to expand her empire."

Amid the controversy over title losses and past scandals within the House of Windsor, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle remain unfazed, choosing to focus on building their brand. Making back-to-back appearances across the pond, the Duchess of Sussex remains focused on promoting her business and championing causes close to her heart. Markle, it seems, is reportedly struggling to put the brakes. And, according to a source, Harry is pleading with his wife to slow down, worrying she is burning herself out and 'losing sight' of what really matters.

The Duke of Sussex is allegedly worried that his wife is adding more and more work to her already packed schedule. The insider told Star magazine, "Meghan’s up until all hours, taking meetings, working every angle she can to expand her empire. She is obsessed with this idea of becoming this huge mogul, but instead of focusing on one thing, she's trying to do it all." Explaining where Harry stands, the source added that he reportedly thinks Markle's work ethic is 'too much.' "He’s worried she’s burning out and losing sight of what actually makes her happy."

The insider also alleged that while Markle thinks her hard work is for a better future, Harry begs to differ. They continued, "She [Markle] keeps saying all this work is for their future and for the kids, but her crazy schedule is taking so much of her time and attention, she hardly seems present for the day-to-day." According to the source, Markle is reportedly trying to become the next Martha Stewart, while also taking inspiration from Kim Kardashian and fashion icon Anna Wintour.

Indeed, after stepping down as a senior royal in 2020, Markle has dived into building multiple business ventures. So far, she has launched podcasts, her lifestyle brand, and multiple Netflix series while supporting charitable causes.

Markle, in her multiple appearances, has, however, insisted that she is particular about maintaining a healthy work-life balance as a CEO. During her appearance at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit on October 14, she said, "I want the life-work balance, if such a thing exists. I’m still going to go and chaperone the first-grade field trip, and then run back and try to finish the meetings." She added that her lifestyle brand, As Ever, was an 'extension of her aesthetic.' "The operational side is so key. I am constantly looking at ways in which we can adjust our margins [and what] our spend looks like [by] really going through P&L."

Markle has previously also spoken about her need for work-life balance, revealing that she relied on a nanny for five years to help manage her children's needs, particularly during mornings filled with school drop-offs and meetings. She described her daily routines and expressed how difficult balancing work and motherhood could be. Additionally, she has also acknowledged Harry's support in helping her find the 'balance' in their lives, to slow down, and enjoy their moments together.
