Royal experts have opined that Prince William will be a new kind of King that the monarchy hasn't seen before. The Prince is expected to pave his own path and make decisions, both personal and professional, that will disrupt the existing order to modernize the Firm. Experts recently argued that one of the first things William will tackle is the ‘Prince Andrew problem,’ given the disrepute his uncle brought to the Crown.
Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich recently told Fox News Digital that William and Andrew have long had a ‘strained and distant relationship,’ with the Prince of Wales holding a grudge against his ‘disgraced uncle.’ She said, “Andrew’s future within the royal family is beyond bleak, since Prince William is firmly opposed to any public rehabilitation with no foreseeable path back.” According to the expert, William, “wants Andrew to vanish from public view.” For the unversed, Andrew, who was once second-in-line to the throne after his brother, King Charles, was forced to give up his royal duties after his infamous BBC interview. During the interview in 2019, he damaged his reputation after he failed to explain his ties to American financier Jeffrey Epstein.
In light of the same, Fordwich explained, “William’s strong stance on 'the Andrew problem’ is consistent, unwavering, and his influence has been decisive in ensuring Andrew remains sidelined...He is driven by his desire… to protect the monarchy’s reputation, doing all he can to safeguard its future.” She further noted, “Every public opinion poll has Andrew at the bottom, reinforcing Prince William’s stance. Once King, no doubt, Prince William will ensure Andrew is completely excluded from royal life, as well as all public appearances."
Royal broadcaster Helena Chard echoed, “Prince William's role within the royal family is more prominent and influential than ever, as is his center stage position in diplomatic relations.” Chard explained that William is aware of the ‘public animosity’ toward Andrew, and sees his uncle as a ‘complete liability’ who has the potential to 'shovel' more shame on the family. She added, “His stance towards his uncle is tough. He will not entertain anyone toxic to the brand. Andrew will not be part of the streamlined monarchy.” Chard also threw light on Charles’ relationship with his brother and claimed that the monarch is also ‘fed up’ with Andrew. However, he might want what William has in mind for Andrew, as there's still allegedly a soft corner. As per reports, Charles himself covered his brother's expenses after his £1 million annual allowance was cut.
Commenting on the tension between Palace walls, expert Jennie Bond also told Closer Weekly earlier, “William has been a strong voice in managing the Andrew problem — he is adamant that there is no way back for his uncle.”
