Comic Relief Host Mocks Meghan Markle Over Past Comments on Harry: 'Oh, What Is a Prince?'
Joel Dommett took a playful jab at Meghan Markle's past comments, where she had claimed to know little about her now-husband.
Meghan Markle, who's no stranger to being picked on for entertainment, was playfully ribbed by Comic Relief host Joel Dommett during a recent podcast appearance. He referenced her past comments, where she claimed to know little about Prince Harry, drawing cheeky parallels to an incident in his life. Dommett revealed that his wife, Hannah Cooper-Dommett, once fessed up to not really knowing who he was during a conversation, hilariously taking a jab at Markle's own confession in the process.
In an episode of Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, the Comic Relief: Funny For Money star couldn't resist poking fun at the Duchess. He said, "My wife slid into my DMs. The TV was on in the corner of the bar, and she saw me on Lorraine. She hadn't seen any of the junk [about a previous catfishing situation he fell victim to]." He then hilariously quipped, "That same way that Meghan Markle didn't know Prince Harry—'Oh, what is a Prince?'" Dommett wed Hannah Cooper in 2019, three years after they had met. They welcomed a son in 2023 and are currently expecting their second child.
For those unversed, during her 2017 engagement interview, Markle said of Harry, "I didn't know much about him… I just asked, 'Is he nice?'" referencing her comments to a mutual friend who had set up their blind date. Additionally, she also admitted in her infamous Oprah Winfrey interview that she hadn't googled the Duke before meeting him. She revealed, "Well, I didn't do any research about what that would mean... I'd never looked up my husband online. I just didn't feel a need to because everything that I needed to know, he was sharing with me, right? Everything that he thought I needed to know, he was telling me."
Moreover, on their 2022 Netflix show, Harry & Meghan, a resurfaced 2015 clip showed Markle being questioned about Harry and Prince William at a red carpet event. When playfully asked who she would choose, she unsurprisingly chose Harry, whom she would later marry in 2018. The couple is now blessed with two children, and the Duchess of Sussex certainly isn't losing sleep over being clueless about royal protocols or Harry now!
