Author Claims William Will Never Forgive Andrew for What He Said About Kate: ‘He Was Jealous...’

Prince William’s resistance to Prince Andrew rejoining the royal fold has often been attributed to the Duke of York’s controversial past associations. But new claims suggest the rift is far more personal and goes back years. Insiders say William’s enduring 'grudge' stems from remarks Andrew allegedly made about Princess Kate, in the early days of their relationship, when he allegedly was 'jealous' of her.

Journalist Richard Kay told the Daily Mail that Andrew was 'unwelcoming' when William first introduced Middleton to the royal family, remarks that have reportedly stayed with the Prince for years. Kay explained, “Differences between monarch and heir do remain, especially when it comes to the Prince Andrew scandal. William has long held a grudge against Andrew for being unwelcoming when he first introduced the then Kate Middleton to the royal family and feels that his father has been too soft on him.”
In his new biography, Entitled: The Rise and Fall of the House of York, author Andrew Lownie explores the wider impact of those remarks. While it’s not clear if the exact words appear in the book, which is out on August 14, Lownie said the claims 'surprised' him, given Andrew’s position and relationship with the future King.
“I can’t see how anyone could make unkind comments about Kate when she’s been the family’s saving grace,” Lownie said, Marie Claire reported. “It surprised me, but people do get jealous. I’d have thought Prince Andrew would respect William as future king, though.” Behind closed doors, Lownie claims Andrew has spoken harshly about Middleton despite her being widely regarded as a stabilising force for the monarchy, particularly after the death of Queen Elizabeth II. The author suggests the remarks stemmed from jealousy, with Andrew allegedly envious of Middleton’s growing prominence within the Firm.

“It’s not known exactly what was said about the future queen,” Lownie noted, “but the alleged comments prompted William to turn his back on his scandal-scarred uncle.” Over the years, William’s frustration with Andrew appears to have only deepened. “William has a very strong sense of public duty and is doing his best to keep the show on the road,” Lownie said. “He’s all about doing things the right way and has enough on his plate without having to think about his uncle.” According to the book, the Duke of York’s reputation and past associations, from his ties to Jeffrey Epstein to alleged links with Chinese spy Yang Tengbo, have cemented the view held by William that Andrew is a 'threat' to the royal family.

“Everyone is pulling together, Charles, Anne, Edward, William, and others, but the whole side has been let down by Prince Andrew,” Lownie said. A source quoted in the book adds, “He [William] also loathes Sarah, Andrew’s ex-wife, and can’t wait for the day when his father throws them both out, the New York Post reported. If Charles doesn’t, I guarantee you the first thing William does when he eventually becomes king is to get them evicted.” Insiders say Andrew’s return to royal duties is off the table for good, especially under William’s reign.
