Three Senior Royals Are Set to Miss the Next Big Royal Wedding, and We Aren't Even Surprised
Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling are all set to get married on Saturday, June 6, during an intimate ceremony.
Royal weddings are always closely observed by the media as well as the public, as outfits, interactions and gestures of royal family members are analyzed. They showcase the grandeur, history, and long-standing traditions of the monarchy. But what makes these celebrations even more memorable is the rare sight of almost all the senior royals and their extended family members gathering together in one place. From balcony appearances to iconic family photographs, such moments give us a unique glimpse into the unity and dynamics of the monarchy. This time, however, the situation appears to be slightly different, with three senior royals reportedly set to miss the upcoming high-profile royal wedding celebration.
Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling are all set to exchange the wedding vows on Saturday, June 6, during an intimate ceremony at All Saints Church in Kemble, Cirencester. For the special event, senior royals, including King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton, are said to have been informed about the arrangements. But the former Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, are not expected to attend the ceremony, given their ongoing controversies surrounding their past connections with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. As reported by GB News, an insider said, "When and whether Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson had been invited, it was probably not deemed appropriate to invite them."
The person added, “It's Peter and Harriet's special day, and clearly their attendance would cause a distraction to the whole day." Additionally, Prince Harry is another senior royal who has reportedly not been included on the guest list either. The source revealed, "Peter and Harry haven't spoken for several years and have simply lost touch, so he hasn't been invited." This may surprise many royal fans, especially because the duo has previously come together for major celebrations.
For instance, Peter attended Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, while Harry was also among the guests at Zara and Mike Tindall’s wedding. Their close bond also became evident when Peter and his sister Zara travelled to Balmoral in Scotland after the death of Princess Diana in 1997, just to be there for their cousins, Prince William and Harry, during the difficult time. However, relations within the family have reportedly become strained since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped away from royal life and relocated to the United States.
Meanwhile, Peter and Harriet have chosen the picturesque Cotswolds region for their big day, as the location is believed to hold special meaning in their relationship. Speaking of this, one of their friends said, "Peter and Harriet's wedding is an intimate occasion with their close friends and immediate family around them in the Cotswolds. It's an area where they grew up and is very special to them both." The duo made their first public appearance as a couple in May 2024 during the Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire, where they were spotted speaking with Queen Camilla. Later on, on August 1, 2025, Peter officially announced his engagement with Harriet after a year of dating.
