Princess Kate to Play Key Role in Upcoming Oman State Visit—And All Eyes Are on Her Tiara Pick
According to the announcement by Buckingham Palace, the King and the Queen will soon host His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman.
Princess Kate is set to take on an important role in King Charles and Queen Camilla's upcoming state visit with Oman. According to the announcement by Buckingham Palace, the King and the Queen will host His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, from Tuesday, October 20th, to Thursday, October 22nd, culminating in a formal state banquet. The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with other senior members of the royal family, will also join in welcoming the Sultan.
The Sultan will arrive in Britain on October 19, landing at Stansted Airport ahead of his official welcome the following morning. William will greet him at his residence before the royal party heads to Windsor. Upon the Sultan's arrival, Charles and Camilla will formally welcome the Sultan at the Royal Dais on Datchet Road. A Royal Salute will then be fired from Home Park and the Tower of London to mark the occasion.
Following the welcome ceremony, the King, Queen, and Sultan will join the Prince and Princess of Wales for a carriage procession to Windsor Castle. Upon reaching the castle, a Guard of Honour will greet the royal party as the regimental band plays the British and Omani national anthems. The King and Sultan will then inspect the Guard before the five royals watch a military parade. The programme will continue with lunch in the State Dining Room, attended by other members of the Royal Family, alongside a special exhibition featuring items connected to Oman, displayed in the Green Drawing Room.
At the banquet, both the King and the Sultan are expected to deliver formal speeches. However, Kate's anticipated appearance at the banquet is already keeping her fans on their toes, with considerable excitement surrounding her tiara selection for the evening. The Princess of Wales has worn stunning, historic tiaras at previous state banquets, making her choice of jewelry a point of interest ahead of the event. While Buckingham Palace has yet to reveal which piece she will select, the formal occasion offers another opportunity for the Princess to showcase one of the Royal Family’s iconic treasures.
Knowing Kate's inclination towards diplomatic dressing, this time too she is expected to shine. The Sultan's visit will continue on Wednesday, October 21, when King Charles and Queen Camilla bid him farewell. He will then travel to London for a meeting with Prime Minister Andy Burnham at Number 10 Downing Street.
