Meghan Markle's Co-Star Jack Quaid Sums Up His Experience Working With Her In 3 Words
In late 2025, photos of Meghan Markle from the set of the Amazon MGM Studios comedy 'Close Personal Friends' were released.
After her high-profile engagement to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle famously professed that she would be quitting acting for what she called the 'next chapter' of her life. Eight years later, she U-turned on her decision when it was revealed that she would be playing herself on the Amazon–MGM Studios comedy Close Personal Friends. Recently, her co-star, Jack Quaid, shared his thoughts about working with her on set, calling the experience 'insane' before slyly pivoting back to the film's other star-studded cast.
When asked by Entertainment Tonight about his experience collaborating with the Duchess of Sussex, Quaid replied, "Yeah—no, it was insane." He then went on to speak highly of the other cast members, saying, "The main cast of it is myself, Brie Larson, Henry Golding, and Lily Collins, which is just an incredible group of people to be a part of. And every day, we went to set, and we just tried our best to make each other laugh." Clarifying that the movie would be more comedy-focused than romantic, he added, "It's about two couples; I don't know if I can say anything else, but I just had a blast making that movie."
Markle, who's set to make a cameo as herself, was spotted on the film's set in Pasadena, California, last November. Shortly after her images hit the shelves, a source told The Sun that her involvement in the project was 'a massive moment.' They spilled, "It is Meghan's way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set." They continued, "Everyone involved is super excited and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement. Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy."
Similarly, an insider also told PEOPLE that although the Duchess had a 'small part' in Close Personal Friends, she seemed 'relaxed and happy' on set. They stressed, "She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth." The film, starring Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Henry Golding, and Quaid, follows a couple who befriend another famous pair during a trip to Santa Barbara; a fitting premise for the Duchess. It would mark her first high-profile screen appearance since leaving the hit Netflix drama, Suits.
Although Close Personal Friends would mark Markle's first on-screen appearance since quitting acting, behind the scenes, she has been involved in many other projects. Following the premiere of her and Harry's new documentary project, Cookie Queens, at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, several cast members revealed what it was like working with her on set. According to GB News, cast member Nikki B said, "I always read about them [Harry and Markle] in my books, like, oh, the princesses and kings, and then I actually get to meet one." Chiming in, her older sister Nala added, "When I first found out that I was meeting the Duke and Duchess, I was like, 'Are you serious? Are you sure?' But yeah, I'm really excited. I'm so stoked."
