Expert Reveals Why Harry 'Lost Purpose' After Royal Exit — It's Not Because He Misses Playing Prince

Reflecting on his exit, the royal expert claimed that Harry has struggled to find a new ‘sense of purpose’ after leaving the UK.

Prince Harry stepped down as a senior royal in 2020 and now lives with Meghan Markle and their two children in California. The Duke of Sussex, who has been outspoken about the mistreatment he and Markle faced, has so far shown no intention of returning to royal duties. Reflecting on his exit, royal expert Clemmie Moodie claimed that Harry has struggled to find a new ‘sense of purpose’ after leaving the army and the royal fold.

Harry entered the British Army in 2005 and served his country for 10 years before retiring in 2015. Moodie wrote for The Sun, “Like many ex-military men, he has lost his sense of purpose: one he so evidently hoped to find as one half of the world’s hottest, most powerful power couple.” The columnist opined that Harry’s public appearances and projects after his royal exit have failed to deliver the same admiration he enjoyed during his military service. She added, “[None of this] can replace the camaraderie and raison d’être of serving your country.”

Reflecting on Harry’s interviews and ventures after his royal exit, Moodie slammed, “Harry’s only purpose now is serving himself.” The expert also addressed claims of Harry being Markle’s ‘spare’ and agreed, “While Meghan Markle is beginning to find her groove as the planet’s first ex-royal influencer, Harry appears to have no discernible talent.” Moodie also expressed her disdain over an excerpt from Harry's controversial memoir, Spare, where he viewed the 25 Taliban people he killed as “chess pieces removed from the board.”

Ex-veteran Levinson Wood also echoed Moodie’s comments about Harry’s distasteful remarks. As reported by the Daily Mail, the Duke had admitted to killing 25 Taliban soldiers during his second tour of Afghanistan in 2012. He penned, “I didn't think of those twenty-five as people. You can't kill people if you think of them as people…They were chess pieces removed from the board. Bads taken away before they could kill Goods.” Wood, who served with Harry at the Royal Military College of Sandhurst, said, “I personally wouldn't have done that, but he's sold a lot more books than I, hasn't he?” Iraq veteran Colonel Tim Collins also slammed, “That's not how you behave in the army; it's not how we think. He has badly let the side down. We don't do notches on the rifle butt.”

Coming back to his royal exit, Harry has reportedly grown ‘increasingly weary’ of his constant unfavorable coverage and dwindling popularity. A source told the Daily Mail, “The recent polling showing that [Harry] is one of the lowest-regarded royals means he has at last conceded there's nowhere to go but up.” It is also reported that he and Markle have entered their ‘professional separation’ agreement to repair his image as Markle’s ‘spare’. The alleged agreement sees the couple employ separate chief of staffs in their new chapter.
