In Photos: Kate Middleton Shows How Good She is at Football As FIFA World Cup Nears

With the FIFA World Cup fast approaching, Prince William will no doubt be hooked to the sports broadcast for every game, since he is not only an ardent soccer fan but also the patron of the British team. However, while William might be the soccer mascot for the Wales household, Kate Middleton is not behind by any means. The Princess of Wales has flaunted her sporty streak on the soccer field time and again, and at certain instances even while wearing heels. Before the Three Lions take the ground in the US next month, let’s take a look at the future Queen of England, ace the game.

During her 2012 visit to Bacon’s College, Kate Middleton tried her hand, or foot, at soccer, despite being dressed to the nines in a chic white dress and heels. She delivered a dainty kick to a bright orange ball in the middle of the field. She and William had visited the college to launch the 'Coach Core' Programme, which was a partnership between their Royal Foundation and Greenhouse.

Royal fans have seen Kate Middleton grow in confidence over the years. She does seem to have grown more sure of herself on the soccer field through experience. In 2021, the then-Duchess of Cambridge showed off a powerful soccer kick, as William proudly looked on, during a visit to the City of Derry Rugby Club. This time, however, Middleton was dressed in a comfortable ensemble of sports shoes, a black jacket, and matching trousers.

One of the most famous instances of Middleton taking on a soccer kick came in 2022, when she attended the Cambridgeshire County Day at Newmarket Racecourse. A part of her and William’s official visit to Cambridgeshire, the beloved royal had been dressed in a beautiful purple dress and beige wedges. But the outfit or the choice of footwear didn’t stop her from displaying a dominant kick to a soccer ball. She had the headlines talking about it for days to come. The iconic move would certainly make it into the Middleton Sports Moments Hall of Fame.

Middleton took on the soccer field in 2019, this time along with kids during a visit to the National Stadium in Belfast, which is the home of the Irish Football Association. She was seen practicing some soccer drills with children. The mother-of-three had chosen to lean into her sporty side for the visit as she donned sports shoes, black trousers, and a dark puffer jacket with a practical low ponytail.

Over the years, the Princess of Wales has surely proved that whatever one can do on any sports field, she can do it better, and while wearing heels. She created another such unbelievable instance when she and William visited Mumbai, India, in 2016. Wearing a multi-colored dress and grey wedges, Middleton performed yet another powerful soccer kick as fans looked on. Certainly, the list of things the princess can’t do is rapidly shrinking.
