The UK Parliament's current exhibition, A Historic Farewell: Art as Witness to the Lying-in-State of Queen Elizabeth II, is revisiting the historic 2022 farewell through newly commissioned artworks. The exhibition also offers a timely chance to look back at the huge queue of mourners, famously known as the “Westminster Snake,” and to understand why it captured so much attention.
