While Prince George wore 'home clothes' for the official arrival photos, new images released shortly after showed him in Eton's uniform for the first time. The pictures, taken by Matt Porteous, who regularly photographs the Prince and Princess of Wales' family, capture George in the school's signature dress code.
Like his father before him, George will wear it daily throughout his time at the prestigious all-boys boarding school: a black tailcoat, waistcoat, pin-striped trousers, and a stiff white collar.
Prince George has always attended the same school as his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. His foray into Eton College will mark the first time the 13-year-old will study in a different institution than his sister and brother.
Previously the three kids attended Lambrook School, which Charlotte and Louis will continue attending.
For the emotional moment, Princess Kate wore a stunning bottle-green Emilia Wickstead midi dress that she had previously worn while hosting Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Prince Daniel at Windsor Castle in 2023. The style icon paired the striking outfit with a gold neckpiece and brown heels.
Prince George looked like Prince William's twin as both royals sported similar baby-blue shirts and patterned dark-blue ties. While the 13-year-old is certainly walking in his father's footsteps by studying at Eton College, he seems to be following the Prince of Wales' fashion advice as well.
Before adopting the infamous Eton black tailcoat and pinstriped trousers, Prince George arrived at his new school with a dash of color. The 13-year-old sported a dark blazer, matching trousers, a baby blue shirt and a polka-dotted dark blue tie to mark the big milestone.
Prince William, Princess Kate and the pupil of the hour, Prince George, met with headmaster Simon Henderson and provost Nicholas Coleridge after arriving at Eton College. "Welcome,” the headmaster told the young royal, “Good luck. Enjoy it.”
Prince George, Prince William, and Princess Kate were welcomed at Eton College in a staunchly British fashion - with a slight drizzle. But the trio, armed with black umbrellas, didn't seem to mind the rain too much. They giggled as they walked into the prestigious institution for the start of a new era.
Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were notably missing from the occasion.
In 1995, a young Prince William, accompanied by his parents, Princess Diana and King Charles, and his younger brother, Prince Harry, began a new chapter of his life. The family of four kept a united front as William signed the entrance book at Eton College and officially started his secondary education.
Now, nearly 31 years later, a similar scene will be recreated at Eton. However, this time, William will be in a different role- that of a father. It is expected that he and Princess Kate will join Prince George as the 13-year-old takes his first steps as a pupil in the hallowed halls.
Prince George's last major public appearance was at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The 13-year-old is set to mark a new milestone as he begins secondary education at the prestigious Eton College, following in the footsteps of his father, Prince William, and uncle, Prince Harry.
The prince previously studied at Lambrook School, along with Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. His younger siblings will continue their education there.
