Trooping the Colour 2026 celebrations have officially begun.
The Prince and Princess of Wales along with their three children arrive at the event.
The day concluded with the moment the crowds had been waiting for: the traditional appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony. King Charles and Queen Camilla stood at the center of the family lineup to watch the Royal Air Force flypast. They were joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales with their children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, alongside Princess Anne, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and the Duke of Kent, marking the finale of the historic military celebration.

Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, was also in attendance for the King's official birthday celebrations. The veteran royal joined senior members of the family to observe the military parade and support the monarch.

A lighthearted moment occurred inside the open carriage as Princess Catherine shared a laugh with Prince Louis. Though the quick exchange went unheard, the interaction highlighted the young prince's characteristically playful personality.

Following closely behind the initial arrivals, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester made their way to the parade ground to join the rest of the senior royals. The appearance of Prince Richard and Birgitte completed the gathering of the working members of the Royal Family, who assembled in full to support King Charles during his official birthday parade.

King Charles stood to offer a formal salute at Horse Guards Parade during the Trooping the Colour celebrations. The ceremony remains the British military's ultimate showcase of precision and demands months of rigorous preparation from the Household Division to honor the sovereign's official birthday.

The Duchess of Edinburgh wore a tailored white ensemble as she traveled to the parade ground by carriage. Sitting alongside Princess Anne’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, Sophie smiled and waved to the thousands of spectators lining the route.

Prince William, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward rode side-by-side on horseback for the procession. Riding abreast behind the King's carriage, the three royal colonels escorted the military procession down The Mall toward Horse Guards Parade.

Prince William participated in the procession on horseback in his role as Colonel of the Welsh Guards. He wore the regiment's traditional bright red uniform, complete with a bearskin hat and Garter sash.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte were seen smiling and waving to the crowds from their carriage, highlighting the close bond between the siblings.

King Charles and Queen Camilla traveled down The Mall in a Queen Victoria-era Ascot Landau carriage. The monarch wore the uniform of the Grenadier Guards (the regiment trooping its colour today) featuring the late Queen Elizabeth's cypher from his time as her personal aide-de-camp. Meanwhile, Camilla paid tribute to the regiment in a red silk crepe Fiona Clare dress.

Catherine brought out some royal recycling today. The Princess of Wales wore her 18-carat yellow gold Cassandra Goad 'Cavolfiore' cluster earrings, which retail for approximately $9,680 and were famously worn at Prince Louis' christening in 2018.

Prince William and Kate Middleton Lead Trooping the Colour Celebrations
The Prince and Princess of Wales were the first members of the Royal Family to arrive at the parade. William and Catherine traveled alongside their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. For the occasion, the Princess opted for a baby-blue coat dress with white piping, a nod to the same color palette she selected for the event in 2025.
